The Timbagroup unites companies that were founded or co-founded and built up by Stefan Zöllig. Their common goal is to increase the market share of wood in construction. They do this by thinking not from the start, but from the goal, and developing technologies and business models that help the material wood to develop its potential.
Stefan Zöllig is convinced that 90% of the possibilities for steel and concrete have already been discovered and developed. In the case of wood, on the other hand, at most 10% of the potential has been discovered so far. The relative amounts of funding that have gone into research over the last 100 years prove him right. While billions of dollars have been invested in research and training in steel and concrete worldwide, only a few hundred million have been invested in wood in a few forested countries. The need to catch up is enormous. On the other hand, it is relatively easy to make new discoveries. In the past 30 years, Stefan Zöllig repeatedly came across simple questions that no one had ever researched in his research projects.
The ideas that arise are often too disruptive for existing companies, so a startup is founded for each one. Investors can invest in each of these startups, except for Timbatec.
Stefan completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter, graduated from the University of Applied Sciences in Biel as a timber construction engineer, and trained as a Kutschera resonance coach.
For over 30 years, Stefan has been known as an innovator, driving ideas and momentum in timber construction and the timber industry. With numerous products, patents and brands, as well as over 4,000 timber construction projects, he is one of the most dynamic entrepreneurs in the timber industry. Numerous products bear his signature, which he has developed from a vague idea to a marketable product. He has founded and managed several companies and associations. The development of the Timber Startup Incubator, which he co-founded, is particularly close to his heart.
Stefan is familiar with the markets in Europe, the USA and Canada and maintains relationships with entrepreneurs, companies and universities worldwide. He is well versed in research and development, patents, licenses, approvals, founding and developing startups, as well as managing companies, firms and associations.
